The $200 discount is good news for one kind of buyer: someone who already wanted a MacBook Air.

Apple took $200 off the MacBook Air (M5) this weekend, part of the same batch of deals that put the AirPods Pro 3 at $179. It is Apple’s entry-level laptop, the one that many people who do not follow prices end up buying at full price.

A seasonal discount is always welcome. I would recommend this one only to someone who has already considered a MacBook Air, someone who likes Macs. I would not push it on anyone else. A deal is a reason to buy the laptop you already had in mind, not a reason to start liking a different one.

The harder question is whether to buy or to wait. That is a real dilemma today. AI is moving fast and changing how everything works, so a product that lasts several years is difficult to find. We are at an inflection point and things are already starting to change. I cannot tell you where it lands, and I have not tested this model. If you do want a Mac, a lower price makes the wait less painful.

Check the current price and what is included before you buy, because weekend deals end. The source is linked below.
