Hoardware Is a Free App for Tracking Your Apple Devices

Based on reporting from 9to5Mac

Hoardware is a free iOS app that keeps an inventory of your Apple devices. 9to5Mac featured it in its Indie App Spotlight.

For each device it records the hardware, the software version, the model number and any notes you want to add. The app is aimed mainly at collectors: the example 9to5Mac gives is logging every iPhone in a vintage collection with its iOS version, serial number and custom notes.

What it does:

  • Coverage tab: shows how many of your devices are on each iOS version.
  • Update notifications: alerts you when new software is released for your devices, which 9to5Mac says can arrive sooner than Apple’s own announcements.
  • Easy setup: you pick a device from a scrollable list, and most details are filled in automatically, with device images included.
  • Favorites: a quick way to find devices in a large list.
  • iCloud sync: your library syncs across your devices.

It needs iOS 17 or later. It is free, with no ads, in-app purchases or subscriptions, and it is on the App Store as Hoardware: Device Collection.

One thing I do not understand is why the app needs the serial number of each device. 9to5Mac says the app lets you record serial numbers but does not explain why, and its write-up includes no privacy policy or details on how the data is handled. The only data detail it mentions is the iCloud sync. If you try the app, check its App Store privacy information first.
